The second day of winter and it’s 19c in our orchard!

Room 28 students and Jodie wandered down to our orchard today and made short work of weeding around the trees providing space for our spring bulbs to pop through in a month or so.

There is really interesting fungi growing on a tree trunk close by the orchard, can you work out what it might be? Mrs Herbert and a group of students are going to contact Plant and Food Research Mt Albert to see if someone can identify these for us.

We have a few avocados still on our trees, a lone apple, heaps of mandarins and so many bunches of bananas we couldn’t believe our eyes! Rosemary especially liked seeing the bunch that was gradually opening to display its hands with little yellow fingers. Very special to see!

Pop over to Room 28’s page and see what they cooked up in the kitchen today, the aromas were amazing!
